One thing that I try to work hard on is not becoming a music snob. I think I do a decent job with that. One of the things I try to do is make sure I listen to songs that are suggested to me by my friends. I figure I go around telling others what they should listen to, I might as well try to be as open minded with other’s suggestions as I want them to be with mine. So when a friend told me to check out this group from Iceland, Of Monsters and Men, I made myself find time to give them a listen. Their song “Little Talks” has been getting a bit of attention lately, and with good cause. The six piece band puts together a sound that is rich and warm filled with harmonies, horns, and even an accordion.

If over the past couple years you have grown to love Typhoon or Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, you are going to like Of Monsters and Men. They follow a similar formula that relaxes you and brings a smile to your face. I sit listening to them and just want to go to the park and sit under a tree, or sit out on a beach. They will be playing Park West March 30. It seems like it would be a good venue for them. Nice and low key. It fits with the relaxing vibe they emit. But what I am really looking forward to is hopefully seeing them this year at Lollapalooza. Yes, I know the lineup hasn’t come out yet, but after playing SXSW this year I dont see why not. Tell me you dont think they would be a perfect middle of the afternoon set. Put them on the stage in the northwest corner, last years Google+ Stage, so people can sit on the grass under the trees and listen to them. Just something I would like to see.
